BMW Teams With South Korean Automaker for Great In-Car Connectivity

German luxury automaker BMW is forming more partnerships with more automakers each day, as they're realizing that the competition has a lot to offer. Though, maybe competition isn't exactly the right word to use, as BMW is choosing who it forms its partnerships with very wisely. More specifically, Beamer has opted to form an alliance with Hyundai in order to develop a new standard for in-car connectivity.

What excites us here at Markel BMW the most about this partnership is the fact that it has been formed with the intention of neither automaker stepping on each other's toes. More specifically, we mean that while the South Korean automaker produces vehicles for the masses, BMW focuses on creating vehicles for the premium segment. Therefore, the two aren't really competing in a strict sense.

Of course, we should also note that this new partnership isn't merely limited to BMW and the Italic H. Rather, they've brought on four design firms to give valuable input in the project as it progresses. They're Broadcom, NXP, Freescale and Harman, and together with the two automakers, the six comprises Special Interest Group (SIG).

SIG is an ambitious project that's hoping to promote a wide-scale adoption rate of Ethernet-based, in-car technology. In fact, they're even aiming to make it an industry standard. How will it all pan out? Only time will tell, but everyone here at 716 N. 102nd Street Omaha, NE 68114 fully encourages you to stay tuned for more information on this exciting endeavor as it becomes available.
