BMW Shifts Focus to Driver Connectivity Like Never Before

Being a true luxury automaker means more than just keeping a driver comfortable and safe during a truly thrilling drive. It's also more than just infusing a car with a infusing a car with a sleek exterior design and interior gadgets. While designing a luxury car involves all of those things, BMW knows that they must go above beyond, thinking outside of the box in terms of comfort, style, performance, and safety.
BMW has got that last one covered, with a new semi-predictive sensor that is already in various BMW models. Currently, these censors are only semi-predictive due to restraints in both distance and time, but BMW is looking to revolutionize the way that these censors work by increasing their power and functions, which is something that we here at Markel BMW are quite excited for.
The reason behind our excitement can be seen in the potential uses for these new censors, which includes avoiding hazardous situations, bad traffic jams, and detecting oncoming emergency vehicles.
In recognizing this fact, the painstaking perfectionists at BMW have embarked on developing a dedicated system that networks not only BMW vehicles across longer distances, but with traffic lights. The ultimate goal, of course, is to give drivers as much time as possible to react to potential hazards such as traffic accidents and imminent red lights.
Karl-Ernst Steinberg, Head Of Information and Communications Technologies at BMW Group Research and Technology says "The more information I have about the rest of my journey... For example, if I know in advance when traffic lights will change, or if I know that an auto accident has just happened further along the route - the more promptly I can react, which means I have less stress and can wither avoid hazardous situations altogether or at lease reduce the risk."1
This new automotive networking technology sounds truly incredible, and like something that would work great in every new BMW model here at 716 N. 102nd Street Omaha, NE 68114. BMW has not yet announced a release date for the new system, which is named "Car-to-X," but for now, you can learn more about models like the BMW 650i and BMW X5 xDrive, as well as our incredible lineup of used BMW models, simply by contacting us online or by phone at (800) 593-6060.
